melloxyellow1209 asked:
how come every time we clean the fish tank our beta fish dies?
well we used to use the conditioner but we dont have anymore since we just moved. but we let the water sit out in a jug for a couple of days. we probably need more of the water conditioner… its been about 3 fishies now that have died when we change the tank.. i feel bad.

well, is your water safe? when we moved to Texas and filled our fish tank with tap our fish died. They sell beta fish water conditioner that makes the water safe for them. Also, maybe the way you clean it stresses them out enough that they just …well die…
Hope it Helps

Watch the chlorine and listen to the first guy, he sounds like he knows what he’s talking about.
We used to fill old jugs (no caps) and leave them to sit for a few days so the chlorine would evaporate before putting it into the tank.
I believe you should be leaving in some old water, I think it’s good for them. Not too much though/

Make sure that the new waters temp is close to the old waters temp. Also they sell tablets to put in the tank tha make it safe for betas.

Are you dechlorinating the water? Unless you have your own well you probably have chlorine in your water which will kill your fish. You need to add some neutralizing stuff before you put it in the bowl. You can get it at the pets store. If that’s not your problem, what temperature water are you using? If you put water in that’s really cold or really hot it could kill the fish.

that is weird! i had a beta fish once, and it died,(mostly cuz i dropped it on the floor) anyway, maybe the water is the wrong temp for the fish, that happend to my fish once, and i put like 30 degrees!, and i think it got hyperthermia…! ok… sorry, im getting off track a little!! like where do u put it when u clean it out? is it safe? wrong kinda water? any bacteria in it? maybe the fish is infected.. or had a sickness, how many died from it?1? 2? 3? let me know!!! i wanna help!

Beta’s need the water to be warm and dechlorinated. You could use a water conditioner or leave water in a dish open overnight to dechlorinate and come to room temperature. The tap water you’ve been filling might be too cold for the Beta.

mabye the fish is dies because the water is new and not stilled.
try keeping a little bit of the old water in the tank so there is some still water that the fish is used to. also cheak PH and make sure chemicals are killed

typically a fish can only die once…
are you letting the water reach the same temp as the water in the tank? did you get rid of chlorine? did you change too much water?

make sure you do not use any chemicals when cleaning his tank! only use water and a clean rag. they do have water conditioner that helps clear anything that could be harful to your betta. hope you have better luck
